Itinerary Short Inca Trail 2 days
DAY 1: Cusco – km104 – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes
We start very early, at 04:00 hrs. Leaving the historic Inca capital, the famous city of Cusco, we will arrive at the Ollantaytambo train station, where we will embark on the adventure and enjoy the scenic landscape until km104. Here our special permit will be processed so that we can leave the comforts of the train and begin our trek. After checking in, our guide will lead us to the Chachabamba sector at 2400masl/7875ft.
From here we will begin the ascent by the route that was developed by the Incas, being an approximate of 4km that will take us about 4 hours to the famous WiñayWayna (Forever Young) at 2650m/7875ft. From here you can see beautiful landscapes and agricultural terraces that are still in use today.
After a brief explanation and a delicious lunch, we will resume our adventure on the Inca Trail to the famous Inti Punku (Sun Gate) at 2720m/8924ft. You can observe the majestic city hidden among the clouds of Machu Picchu and take wonderful pictures. After this, we will continue our descent – our destination will be the town of Aguas Calientes (2040m/6693ft). We will rest and shower at the Inca Tower or another 3-star hotel.
DAY 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After having enjoyed a comforting night and a delicious breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and transfer to the bus station at 6.00am. Our transportation will travel 30 minutes to the entrance of Machu Picchu at 2430m/7973ft, which we will reach after passing the checkpoint.
We will embark on our excursion inside the city of Machu Picchu and stay for about 3 hours. In Machu Picchu, you will be able to observe the famous Guardian’s House, take pictures of the Inca messenger center, the Temple of the Sun, the Inca House, the Sacred Plaza, the Sundial, the Huayranas (rest houses) and the Temple of the Condor.
You will then get a Machu Picchu stamp on your entrance ticket or passport. Then we will take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes and have lunch at a restaurant selected by our agency. Finally, we will have free time until departure time, then take the train to Ollantaytambo station where our private transportation to Cusco awaits us for the return to your hotel in Cusco.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

STRIKES
Strikes or roadblocks are constantly happening in Peru. And it may interrupt our walking trip and also the train service, transportation, cannot operate during the strike. but we will try to solve or look for another exit alternative.
If the strike or roadblock occurs on the day of your tour departure, we will take you to Aguas Calientes, one night before your trip. And you will spend the night in your 3-star hotel.
If the strike occurs the day your 2 day Inca trail trek ends, we will send you our van to the hydroelectric, therefore you will have to walk for approximately 2 hours from Aguas Calientes to the hydroelectric, then we will drive in our van for 7 hours to Cusco You will be at your hotel around 11:00 p.m.
RETURN BY TRAIN FROM MACHU PICCHU TO OLLANTAYTAMBO
There are several train options available for your round trip from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. These trains offer economy and business class services and feature comfortable seats, with panoramic views throughout the journey.
We use a one-way train schedule at 06:10 a.m., Ollantaytambo to km 104 and your return will be the next day at 2:55 p.m. from Machu Picchu to Ollantaytambo. This train schedule helps us to arrive early to your hotel.
THE WEATHER OF THE INCA TRAIL 2 DAYS

CAN I CHANGE THE DEPARTURE DATE AFTER BOOKING THE INCA TRAIL PERMIT?
It is not possible to change the date, according to the decree granted by the government. It is not allowed to change your Inca Trail entrance. However, you will pass several entrances, where your passport will be checked.
WHEN DOES THE INCA TRAIL CLOSE?
The 2-day short Inca trail is closed, the entire month of February. And no group is operated, for reasons of maintenance and landslides.
HOW ABOUT THE YOUTH DISCOUNT?
